FACE TO FACE is the latest work in Eno’s exploration of patterns and the possibilities of combination to produce unexpected and unusual art works.
This work started life with a small group of photographs of real faces – people who actually exist, each captured on a single still photograph. Using specially developed software, the image morphs slowly from one real face to another, a pixel-by-pixel process of change.
This generates a long chain of ’new humans’ in between each real one - people who have never actually existed, intermediate humans, 25 of them every second. In this version 170,000 new faces have been born.
The music is original and written for the piece.
